Where do you start...

BBC News - Freegan Mark Boyle hosts a feast of foraged food

What Mark Boyle has accomplished here, in my view, is to demonstrate how wasteful we are. It is the most we can take away from Marks efforts. In practical terms we all and not even half the population, cannot live this life style.

For starters, where would the solar-powered laptop and WiFi, that Mark uses, plus all the food and other items come from? Where would the taxes come from to pay for and maintain the infrastructure Mark is using? All these things are not free.

"Freeconomists" say their way of life is helping to save the planet from climate change and pollution. I don't agree fully with that statement. They may not be contributing as heavily to carbon output as most of us, but they still do depend on status quo to live the free life.

Hard times, greed and morals.

BBC NEWS | Business | 'Outrage' at AIG bonus payments

If any of these executives are taking note, for your gross negligence and greed do the morally correct thing and hand back all of the bonuses.
It is in my humble opinion, that those financial institutions that could have failed should have failed and the profitable parts, of such big financial institutions sold off to pay for the mess they created in the first place. There are many smaller organisations who must be ruing at the lost opportunity to grow their business as these global organisations started to fail, only to be saved by tax payer's bailouts.
Would it have been cheaper for the governments to back health smaller financial institutions, so they could buy the profitable parts of the bigger financial institutions as long as the smaller financial institutions sign up to the new financial code?

Unfair pitch battle?

BBC SPORT | Cricket | England | Broad attacks Caribbean pitches
"The wickets have been overly flat, it's not been a fair battle between bat and ball and it doesn't make for exciting cricket," Broad lamented

Sorry Chris if the pitch wasn't to your liking. But how is it an unfair battle when the WI team have to use the same pitch? Care to expand?

Why should the pitch suit you?

BBC SPORT | Cricket | England | Broad attacks Caribbean pitches

Ah so you are finding excuses for the impending defeat in the Caribbean. The pitches, the WI team negative attitude, the sun, the humidity the cheer leaders? Hang on, who decided to declare far too early and the result? It costed you the game? Bad decisions that resulted in a draw when you were in the driving seat.
If the pitches are a batting pitch then you should be scoring tons and draw every test game. You don't go to the other team's home turf, with the hope that the field will be design for your style of play.
Take stock and get real.

In reply to social networking doom

BBC NEWS | UK | Online networking 'harms health'
Once again another sensationalist piece of writing ignoring the facts. How about adding... "like anything else e.g. over exercising, excessive drink or eating, too much of anything is not good for you."

I use Facebook for connecting to my family who live in another country. Most of my friends do not live that close to me and if the public transportation links actually work to 'real world needs', then may be I would be able to pop around for a cuppa and not have to use Facebook at all.

When will journalist ever present the real facts to provide a balanced view. After all you flood the news with content about knife toting hoodies. Is it possible that you, the media, are contributing negatively to the issue? I'm sure may people would be thing why should I leave the comfort of my home to be stabbed. Wasn't it in the papers last week that someone got stabbed...

He added: "It's not that I'm old fashioned in terms of new technology, but the purpose of any new technology should be to provide a tool that enhances our lives."

Isn't social networking website just an extension of the telephone which was also an extension of the wired telegraph? What negative
impacts has happened since this technology came along? All of these technologies have enhanced our lives in some way.

Get up to 1/2 your petrol paid...

So what is the deal? Well a bit of background and I promise it is very short.

I signed up for Airmiles, but forgot to uncheck the option for a Shell card. To my surprise, a Shell driver's club card arrived. Now I though about returning it, but the light bulb began to glow.

Told you the back ground was short.

No here is the deal and you must fit the criteria below. In order of importance, if you;
  1. Do not collect Airmiles and do not want too
  2. Live in the West Yorkshire area
  3. Have a car
  4. Have no political or moral issues using Shell's garages
  5. Want to get up to 1/2 your petrol cost back
Then look me up in Facebook (Soca Haze in the Leeds network) and send me a message or you can e-mail via this blog.
