I applaud your bravery J Sinclair of Surrey, but what you did was risky. A noisy MP3 play is one thing. A gang of thieving and destructive thugs is completely different ball game.
Most buses are equipped with CCTV technology and if the bus you were traveling on did have cameras then these thugs would have been capture on tape. In situations like this all passengers need to do is silently observe what was going on and be prepare to step forward to backup the CCTV tape.
If a bus does not have CCTV installed then again just observe what went on and make a complaint to the bus company or police.
